Santiago RuizTorres -Filmmaker-Photographer


Born and raised in Bogota, Colombia.

Santiago Riuz Torres studied Music Recording and Production at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario under the direction of acclaimed record producer Jack Richardson (2000-2002). After having worked for Distort Entertainment and Cherry Beach sound in Toronto, in 2003 he moved to Montreal to study at the prestigious Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema of Concordia University. In 2004 he directed and executive produced the 7th annual Iberoamerican Film Festival of Montreal sponsored in part by the NFB. That same year he won the Arri Canada Scholarship as director and cinematographer for the short Mercy Killing. In 2005, the short Empty Hand, in which he worked as cinematrographer wins the Kodak Canada Award. The Following year, Curlew Sandpiper, another short in which he worked as cinematographer won the prestigious Technicolor Canada Award at Concordia University.
